HCI, SDx, Cloud and Security will see more IT budgets by CIOs on their digital transformation journey, says Rajesh Mathkar, Director at Wysetek.

The first month of fiscal year is the time for businesses in India to prepare their yearly plans, have AGM and list down company’s priorities for the next twelve months. Rajesh Mathkar, Director, Wysetek Systems Technologists elaborates on the tech bets, business blueprint and next big thing in fiscal year 2019 – 2020.

What will be ‘top-of-the-line’ technology priorities Wysetek in this fiscal year and why?

In today’s competitive environment, awareness about threats is growing and hence need for security solutions are increasing. Wysetek offers a comprehensive bundle of security services to support the design, installation, operations management and continuous improvement of an organization’s IT infrastructure. Hence Security will be a big priority in 2019.

Besides the basic building blocks needed for IT infrastructure, EDR & Deception will be adopted more by Indian CISOs as threat landscape has evolved attacks have become more targeted & lethal.

Hyper convergence gained a much greater foothold by the IT industry in general. We consider HCI as prime investment for today as well as for future investments. We believe cloud services will rise largely in the upcoming years. In the near future, we can even expect the cloud infrastructure to become the default web server environment and a game changer for both local and multi-national companies.

Do you expect IT budgets to increase over the next 12 months at your customers’ end?

Yes, we do expect moderate increase in the IT budgets depending on initiatives of companies based on their vertical need and business imperative. We do expect IT budgets to increase in HCI, Cloud and Security at your customer end.

The expectations however will be more business outcome based than technology driven at the customer end. Hence the digital technologies like cloud, HCI, SDx will see more IT budgets by CIOs and IT leaders on their digital transformation journey.

Has your teams started interacting with C suites like CFO, CMO, CDO and LOBs of your customers more than in the past besides the CIOs?

Yes, for some time now Wysetek team is interacting with different IT and business stakeholders at our customer end. The reason being the digital transformation (Dx) journey invariably means different LOB’s directly driving IT budgets and projects. We see our teams spent more time at LOBs across organizations as more companies in India move to adopt digital technologies.

How has Wysetek formed its technology team internally to face the new demands ofcustomers in fiscal 18-19? Have you formed teams – vertical – wise or technology – wise?

Wysetek has a separate team for technology which comprises of highly experienced skilled technical professionals who leverage deep industry expertise to craft integrated business solutions. We have formed the team technology wise for Virtualization, HCI, Cyber security, Data protection and management, open source besides IT infrastructure. It helps us to focus better and serve our customers faster.

What will be value proposition of Wysetek in fiscal 2019 -2020? Any Dos and Don’ts for CIOs of Indian companies on their digital transformation journey?

The role at Wysetek remains the same with additional expertise on new technologies. Personally I see myself into more of mentoring role for our team leaders. Our pitch or value proposition will be more on our deep skills and relationship based approach for the customers.

CIOs should start early on their digital transformation journey and they can start small (across units or workloads) rather than invest big at one time. IT Leaders need to keep moving ahead and investing in new technologies as digital transformation is a long term journey.

CIOs and IT leaders at large should not have unrealistic or immediate expectations on their path to become digital native companies as most solutions are business outcome based than immediate ROI and TCO in traditional hardware appliances.
